Submitted Article Regarding
Legal / Moral

- “Everything that’s legal is moral, right? (And vice versa?)”

No. And no. Current events alone ought to convince us that legal and moral won’t be synonymous anytime soon.

Case in point: abortion, which has been legal since 1973, but has been immoral since . . . forever.

So we’ve established that not everything legal is moral. But is everything that’s moral, legal?

Well, consider driving. Picture yourself tooling along on a beautiful, sunny day. As you're cruising along, you inadvertently let the car go 1 mile over the speed limit. While you’re no longer acting legally, you’re still acting morally (since you’re still able to control your car on the road you’re traveling).

Thus we’ve also established that not everything moral is legal.

And it seems that the divide between legal and moral is widening by the day:

The attempt to codify abortion “rights” into federal law

The continued closing of churches despite the reopening of other buildings

etc.

So let us ask God not only for the wisdom to differentiate, but also for the courage to stand strong in our Faith.
