_________
![]() special New Testament events (Mysteries) in the life of Jesus, while honoring Mary as well.
It is said that Mary presented the Rosary to St. Dominic (1170-1221 A.D.) and Mary has asked that it be prayed daily.
The Rosary is a powerful weapon to have in one’s prayer arsenal. This is not us saying this, rather Heaven has.
Rosaries need not be fancy.
The USAF Museum at Wright Pat AB displayed made by a US Airman out of beads of hardened rolled tight bread, so he could pray while he was a POW.
The Rosary also features 2 medals affixed to it – one is the Miraculous Medal of Mary (common on Rosaries), and the other is a St. Benedict medal. Medals are placed where the circle of the Rosary meets. (Note that such additions are optional.)
Traditionally, there are 15 Mysteries of the Rosary, divided into 3 sets of 5 Mysteries, which are known as the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries.
The Joyful Mysteries are usually prayed on Mondays and Thursdays, and also on Sundays during Advent and the Christmas season. The Sorrowful Mysteries are usually prayed on Tuesdays and Fridays, and also on Sundays during Lent. The Glorious Mysteries are usually prayed on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and also on Sundays outside Advent and Lent. During the reign of Pope John Paul II (1978-2005), now a Saint, there were 5 more mysteries added by him. The remain suggested as far as we know. These 5 are called the Luminous Mysteries.
Pope Saint John Paul II suggested the recitation according to this schedule. the JOYFUL mysteries Monday and Saturday, the LUMINOUS on Thursday, the SORROWFUL on Tuesday and Friday, and the GLORIOUS on Wednesday and Sunday with exception of Sundays of Advent and Christmas – the JOYFUL Sundays of Lent – the SORROWFUL This was from the site https://www.rosarycenter.org/homepage-2/rosary/how-to-pray-the-rosary/
They key is that while \" saying a Rosary \" you are meditating on a set of 5 Mysteries, one per \" decade \" of a rosary. The word means 10, and is often referring to a group of 10 Hail Mary's.
Do not be daunted, as the Rosary is very simple and takes 10-15 minutes only.
Keeping in mind the importance of the Christ-centered, Biblical nature of the Mysteries, we will define them first in their respective sets.

HOW TO SAY THE ROSARY ..........
\" Saying a Rosary \" consists of praying one set of the Mysteries across the circle of 1 Cross, 53 small beads, 6 large beads, 5 non-beaded prayers, 1 medal (usually) where the circle meets. This typically takes 10-15 minutes. The small beads are for saying the Hail Mary's, while the large beads are for the Our Fathers. The Cross is for the Nicene Creed. The medal where circle meets is for the \" Salve Regina or Hail Holy Queen \" . The 5 non-beaded prayers are known as the \" Glory be \" , which are a Doxology. Heaven in the person of Mary during Fatima asked for a prayer to be said to Jesus for His help for all souls, which adds 5 more non-beaded prayers known as the \" Oh My Jesus \" .

WHAT ARE THE PRAYERS ABBREVIATED ABOVE .........
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth ; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell ; the third day He rose again from the dead ; He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty ; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.
The Our Father
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed by Thy Name Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
The Hail Mary
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
The Oh My Jesus
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Thy Divine Mercy.
Salve Regina
Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy Womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. (The Salve Regina ends here, however this additional section is always said too) Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray, O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life. Grant, we beseech Thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen. (These prayers can also be said as addition) Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
Note: Please do not forget Christ made a promise when two or more are gathered in His name, there he will be. So although you can say the Rosary alone, you can also say it with others. When the Rosary is recited in a group setting, it is customary to divide each prayer roughly in half, with the leader praying the first half of each prayer, and the rest of the people praying the second half. This occurs on the utube we provided above. (The only exception to this is the O My Jesus prayer, which is prayed in its entirety by the whole group.) Also, in a group setting, the leadership can change hands with every Mystery.
By instructions of Our Lord, the Rosary may be used for Chaplets, too. There is only one \" Rosary \" , but there are many Chaplets using the same physical rosary. A very popular Chaplet of critical importance as handed by Christ at around the turn of the 1900s is the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
Unlike Christ's Sacraments, which He Himself instituted, the rosary (physical) is not a Holy Sacrament, it is a sacramental.
